sizzle heating are energy consultants that specialise in both renewable energy and reducing the carbon footprint in your home.

Our engineers cover Kent and East Sussex - postcodes TN and BN.

If you are looking for advice on how to reduce your carbon footprint, by installing a heat pump or solar panels - we can help.  Our team will guide you through the whole process as well as helping you to apply for any government grants that may help you with the costs.

If we are to reach the net zero carbon emissions target set by the UK Government, we will need to reduce the carbon emissions from heating our homes by 95% over the next 30 years.

To put this into perspective, the average household generated 2,690kg of carbon dioxide (CO2) from space heating and hot water heating in 2020. By 2050, we need to reduce this to just 140kg per household.

There are likely to be significant changes ahead to how we heat our homes to meet these targets. In the meantime, there is a lot you can do right now to make your heating system more energy efficient, saving yourself money on your fuel bills, as well as reducing your carbon emissions.

Heat pumps are suitable for almost all homes and may also reduce your energy bills, depending on the system you are replacing.

Renewables: Heat pumps

A heat pump captures heat from outside and moves it into your home. It uses electricity to do this, but the heat energy delivered to your home is much more than the electrical energy used to power the system.

Electricity is becoming increasingly low carbon, as more renewable sources are connected to the electricity grid, replacing existing gas and coal power stations. This makes a heat pump an extremely low carbon heating option, and increasingly so as our electricity grid further decarbonises.

Tens of thousands of heat pumps have already been installed across the UK, and over 1.5 million heat pumps were installed across Europe in 2020 alone.

The UK Government expects that millions of heat pumps will need to be installed in homes over the next 10-15 years to meet our net zero targets.

In a typical household, over half of the fuel bills are spent on heating and hot water. An efficient heating system that you can easily control can help reduce your fuel bills and reduce your carbon emissions.

What are heat pumps and are there different types?

We at sizzle can help you choose between air source or ground source heat pumps depending on your property and garden.  We have qualified engineers that will design, install and maintain your 'renewable energy' heating system.

Air source heat pump

Taken from Vaillant website:

Air source heat pumps use the external temperature to extract heat and are the most common type of heat pumps, suitable for use even in apartment and flat situations off the ground floor. Some electricity energy is required to allow this, though it is only around 25% of the total energy used during the process. Air source heat pumps will operate in low temperatures too.

Ground source heat pump

Taken from Valliant website:

Ground source heat pumps use a system embedded into the ground to extract heat. For this reason, your home does need the necessary land to allow installation of either a ground array or borehole system. Installed systems are not noticeable once completed. Some electricity energy is required to allow this, though it is only around 25% of the total energy used during the process.
